Argentine Tango
The Art of Connection: Argentine Tango with Les
Step away from the rush of the week and into the embrace of Buenos Aires. Argentine Tango with Les is more than just a dance class; it is a study in non-verbal communication, connection, and improvisation. Unlike the sharp, staccato movements of "Ballroom Style" Tango, Argentine Tango is grounded, fluid, and deeply internal.
In this 45-minute session, Les strips away the complex patterns to focus on the heart of the dance: "The Embrace." You will learn how to move as one unit with your partner, interpreting the music together in real-time. Whether you are leading or following, this class will heighten your awareness of weight transfer, balance, and the subtle signals that make this dance so mesmerizing to watch and to feel.
What you can expect in class:
-
The Caminata (The Walk): Master the most important element of Tango—walking with intention, elegance, and cat-like smoothness.
-
Connection & Embrace: Learn the mechanics of the frame, how to give and receive energy, and how to maintain connection through complex turns.
-
Fundamental Figures: Explore essential movements like Ochos (figure eights), Giros (turns), and the Cruzada (cross), emphasizing technique over memorization.
-
Musicality: Discover how to dance to the music, finding the pause and the melody within the rhythm.
This class is suitable for both couples and singles. No partner is required, as the focus is on building the skills to dance with anyone.
