Groove Theory: Beginner Hip Hop with Desi

End your week on a high note! Beginner Hip Hop with Desi is the ultimate Friday night energy boost. This class is all about "The Groove"—that fundamental feeling of rhythm and bounce that defines Hip Hop culture. If you’ve ever felt stiff on a dance floor or unsure of how to move your body to the beat, Desi is here to help you loosen up and find your pocket.

In this 45-minute session, we focus less on strict memorization and more on how to move. Desi breaks down the core mechanics of Hip Hop—the bounce, the rock, and the slide—making them accessible to absolute beginners. You will learn to isolate different parts of your body, improve your coordination, and put it all together in a fun, manageable routine.

What you can expect in class:

  • Foundations: Master the basic "party steps" that are the building blocks of social Hip Hop dancing.

  • Isolations: Learn how to move your chest, hips, and shoulders independently to add texture to your movement.

  • Musicality: We don't just dance to the music; we dance inside the music. Learn to hear the snare, the bass, and the lyrics.

  • The Vibe: Desi cultivates a "judgement-free zone" where the goal is to sweat, smile, and gain confidence.

This class is strictly for beginners—no previous training is required. Wear your favorite sneakers and comfortable streetwear.
