Foundation & Form: Breaking Foundations with Archi

Before you can fly, you have to learn how to stand—and how to get down. Breaking Foundations with Archi is the essential blueprint for aspiring B-Boys and B-Girls. Whether you are a complete beginner or looking to clean up your technique, this class focuses on the core vocabulary that defines this athletic art form.

In this 45-minute session, Archi breaks down the four pillars of the dance: Toprock, Go-Downs, Footwork, and Freezes. Unlike a freestyle session, this class drills the mechanics of movement to ensure you are dancing safely and effectively. You will learn how to shift your weight, engage your core, and transition smoothly from a standing groove to floor work.

What you can expect in class:

  • Toprock Technique: Master the "Indian Step" and "Salsa Step"—the upright movements where you establish your style and rhythm before hitting the floor.

  • Footwork Drills: We break down the mathematics of the "6-Step," "3-Step," and "CCs," teaching you to be light on your hands and quick with your feet.

  • Freeze Fundamentals: Learn the balance and leverage needed for foundational freezes like the Baby Freeze and Chair Freeze.

  • Strength & Safety: Breaking is high-impact. Archi incorporates specific conditioning to strengthen your wrists, shoulders, and core to prevent injury.

This is a high-energy class that respects the history of Hip Hop culture while giving you the physical tools to express yourself within it.
