Broadway Bound: Musical Theater with Dafne
The curtain is up! Musical Theater with Dafne brings the magic of the stage directly to The Dance Den. If you love showtunes, storytelling, and adding a touch of drama to your dance, this is your time to shine.
In this 45-minute session, Dafne shifts gears from the commercial vibes of Jazz Funk to the narrative world of Broadway. This class focuses on "acting the song"—using dance to convey a character and tell a story. You will explore a variety of theatrical styles, from the sharp, isolated movements of Fosse to the high-energy, big-movement numbers found in modern musicals.
What you can expect in class:
-
Character Work: Learn how to embody a character through movement, focusing on gesture, intention, and facial expressions.
-
Broadway Jazz Technique: Master the specific jazz techniques—like bevels, grapevine steps, and box steps—that define the theater style.
-
Storytelling: Every routine has a beginning, middle, and end. Dafne teaches you how to maintain the narrative throughout the choreography.
-
Stage Presence: Learn how to project your energy to the "back row" of the theater, building massive confidence in your performance skills.
Whether you are an aspiring performer or just someone who blasts Hamilton in the car, this class offers a fun, theatrical outlet for your creativity. Jazz shoes are recommended, but sneakers work too!
